Presentation of Historia Langobardorum in Cividale del Friuli (UD)
This is the video of the public meeting held in Cividale del Friuli on 24th May 2014, in which the facsimile of the Historia Langobardorum was presented, which we now present to you from the pages of this website. The speakers at the meeting included the director of the National Archaeological Museum of Cividale del Friuli Mr Fabiano Pagano, the superintendent for historic, artistic and ethnic-anthropological heritage of Friuli Venezia Giulia Mr Luca Caburlotto, Professor Laura Pani, palaeographer of the University of Udine, and Professor Stefano Gasparri, medievalist of the Cà Foscari University of Venice.
Altar of Ratchis in colour
This video illustrates the chromatic reconstruction of the Altar of Ratchis based on the studies carried out on the remains of the pigments which are still visible on the altar through optical enlargement. The reconstruction is based on the studies carried out during the restoration operations conducted on the Altar in recent times.
I Longobardi di Cividale - Rai Storia
This documentary (called The Lombards of Cividale in English) by RAI Storia speaks extensively of the footprint left behind by the Lombards, particularly in their first Italian capital, Cividale del Friuli, the ancient Forum Iulii, gaining further insight into the historic, cultural and artistic aspects of this extraordinary population. The interviewees include Professor Stefano Gasparri of the Cà Foscari University of Venice and Professor Laura Pani of the Unviersity of Udine, who are the authors of some new chapters included in the commentary that accompanies the facsimile of the Historia Langobardorum. The video presents the originals of the Historia Langobardorum and the Altar of Ratchis which we offer you in facsimile and small-scale copy on this website
