ALTAR OF RATCHIS
Our small-scale 1:4.5 reproduction.
The creation of this artefact was preceded by a particularly elaborate research phase that ended with a laser scan with 1dmm definition. esecuzione di un rilievo mediante laser scanner di estremo dettaglio dell'opera scultorea, raffigurante nei bassorilievi scolpiti sulle quattro facciate, la Visitazione di Maria Vergine ad Elisabetta, l’Adorazione dei Magi con la Vergine sul trono, nella lastra frontale è raffigurato il Cristo in trono entro una mandorla mentre la lastra posteriore è ornata con croci e ornati geometrici. To create the small-scale copy a block of limestone was used, hollowed out inside and originating from the Vratza quarry in Bulgaria, while a CNC engraving machine was used for the engravings of the four slabs. This work is also accompanied by a commentary by Ms Laura Chinellato, one of the biggest experts of this sculptural artefact, Professor Stefano Gasparri who curated the Ratchis Hidebohohlrit chapter and Mr Riccardo Belcari, University of Pisa.
